Massage bars
Re: Massage bars
I've never tried a lotion bar either, sounds interesting! I'd love a bar I could use instead of oil, maybe something that's not so greasy you'd have to wash it off?

Lotion bars are pretty much the same as massage bars, but technically I guess I'd use oils that sink in quickly- where in a massage bar I'd use oils that stay on the surface a bit longer. If you have the one from Lush you pretty much have the basic idea...
I'll confess to a bit of a love/hate thing with cocoa butter. I love it because it's cocoa butter and it smells fantastic- but it's a bear to work with because it's really really hard- like baking chocolate. I was thinking I'd order in a few pounds of it and make some LE things for Valentine's day. As a once in a while type project it's not a big deal- but as a regular line type thing it's tough because it melts quickly in summer heat.

I share your love of cocoa butter, and the smell is divine. Why many companies use the deodorised kind is beyond me!
My compromise is to use whipped cocoa butter for a winter all-over moisturiser, but yes, you're right, it's a PAIN (literally, if you don't have some heavy duty mixing equipment!). Still, lovely lovely stuff.
You can still do lotion bars with things like mango, hemp, avocado, etc. and have them be luscious. There was one company I used to buy from that had an orange-scented hemp butter concoction in a push-up tube. It was heavenly - and really moisturising,. Unfortunately I don't have an old tube anymore (it was the size and shape of a roll on deodorant), and I don't remember what the other ingredients were.

Re: Massage bars
Oooh a minty massage bar would be awesome! I used to LOVE this migraine massage cream that bath & body works discountinued a few years ago. It was absolutely amazing, enough to make me seriously consider the $75 price tag I saw on E-bay a few weeks ago, but I can't justify that kind of money. But a minty massage bar would be a perfect substitute for something like that. The texture would be amazing, plus the minty quality would probably make it work well on the feet too, or as a cooling treat anywhere, anytime. And a bar would be so convenient.
