Firming moisturizer
Firming moisturizer
Just started using this, and call me crazy, but doesn't seem as satisfying(?) for my skin as the raspberry. I've used it now for a few nights, and every time I finish with it, my face feels kinda tight, and a bit itchy. I spray on a lot of hydrosol and that helps, but I have started layering a bit of oil underneath as well to better the end result. I don't have this problem with the Raspberry one at all. What's up with that?
Re: Firming moisturizer
I'm going to try it, and i may end up right here with ya. I used to work for Markey at GoW, and got to try Renovage pretty early - only it didn't agree with me.
One of the ingredients in the Renovage itself (if I remember right) is fractionated coconut oil (not the same as coconut cream - which is also an oil and what's in the lip balm). My skin doesn't have a problem with coconut cream. It may have a problem with the fractionated coconut oil, though.
Maybe try the firming at night and use your regular moisturiser during the day and see what happens? But again, if I'm remembering the ingredients correctly, it could be the coconut oil.

Re: Firming moisturizer
I'm not familiar with GOW at all (too expensive to ship to UK), but I can give my 2c's worth about the Raspberry. The Raspberry Moisturiser is too heavy an oil for my skin (I prefer jojoba) and it leaves a heavy film, slight sticky feel and generally doesn't sink in at all. I can and do use the Firming Moisturiser comfortably (I prefer Intensive) so whatever the blend of oil is in the Firming, I'd say it's noticeably lighter in texture / viscosity than the (neat) Raspberry Moisturiser. Perhaps because it's lighter, it's just not nourishing enough nor working so well for you?
Re: Firming moisturizer
Hmm, yeah, I'm already using Rasperry at morning and Firming at night. I figured with all those oils in it, it may be too much for day. My skin adores raspberry, I even have a bit mixed into my primer, and never a problem. I would like to stick with using it during the day due to its sunscreen properties. I think I'm just going to continue layering oils on/under the firming one, because I do like the idea of Renovage, and I have a ton of different carrier oils waiting to be used. I did use the GoW type a while ago, and it seemed to be fine, albeit quite light too, for night. I guess maybe it's my misconception that my face needs to look like a grease pan at night

Re: Firming moisturizer
I've started to notice that as the weather has started to cool off that I want a bit more of an oily oomph too- if only to offer a bit of protection from the wind and cold. All of the moisturizers have exactly the same percentage of total oils...it's just that some feel a lot lighter on skin than others. Jojoba was just what my skin was craving during the spring when I released it, but yeah..needs a little something else now that it's colder. Right now I'm working on some winter blends...

Sounds great, Karen, can't wait
And you know, my hands and neck could use a bit of extra pampering, so I'm sure I'll eat through the Firming just in time for your new releases....

Re: Firming moisturizer
Just a quick update: I started mixing the firming with the raspberry for night, and with a generous amount of spritzing before and after, the itchies and dryness are gone! I'm still looking forward for something more wintery, but this is working nicely for now.

Re: Firming moisturizer
hmm, I got a sample of the raspberry and I found it drying on my skin, my skin was super tight and itchy afterwards, - funny how everyone's skin is so different.
I am hoping the Emu is more moisturizing since I ordered a full size of that after trying and not like the raspberry one.
To get through my sample I am mixing it with a homemade lotion (shea butter, manuka honey, glycerine, almond oil, avocado oil), and that seems to be great for me. I found my homemade mix too heavy, so was using it for my hands only, but mixed with the raspberry, it works great for me
I am also using the facelift serum underneath.
But I am definitely interested in some winter moisturizers.

Re: Firming moisturizer
Emu is good - it penetrates skin really well on account of its chemical composition.
I'm back to argan mixed with oatmeal serum. I tried the Firming for three weeks and got huge pores and breakouts (and I never break out). It's got to be the fractionated coconut oil, cos it's the exact same thing that happened with Markey's. I think Renovage probably works for about 98% of the population - how come I get to be in the 2%? Bleh. It's a wonder moisturiser for most folks.
Fortunately I've never had a problem with DMAE!
