Quick Tips for Cream Liners

Post by JenW » Fri May 23, 2008 3:20 pm

I know some of you have received these recently, and I though I would post a few tips for their use.

These are made of all natural ingredients and should perform very similarly to traditional gel liners. Even the colors are similar to traditional ones.
*For best results, apply with a clean liner brush. It really does not take much product.
*Then use another brush (like an eyeshadow brush) to set it with Perfecting Powder to make it last longer.

Another option before setting is to use one of our Morphing Eyeshadows. These include Sprite, Fire, Gasp, Breathe, Opal, Nymph, Pixie, Butterfly Blue, Highbeam, Hint, Teal Appeal, and possibly even Whisper. For the Morphing effects, you can apply any of those eyeshadows over the top of any of the Cream Liners for a stunning effect. The Cream Liner will bring out the interference hue rather than the hue you see imediately in the jar. I generally recommend the Clear for all over application, but those shadows over your darker colored eyeliners will be gorgeous, too. In all over application, it gives the look of being foiled with a little more staying power.

I have found that I have barely put a dent in my Cream Liner tester that I have been using nearly daily for a little over a month. The Cream Liners may seem small in comparison to traditional gel liners (the CLs actually weigh more), but they will last much longer without the threat of drying out. You just use that much less product. I also find it easier to apply without clumping like my gel liner does. To me it is almost like an eyeliner pencil that you apply with the control of a brush. The Cream Liners last pretty long on my eyes considering they are all natural, at least until I take them off. I can't say they last as long or longer than traditional gel liners, but I don't plan on leaving them on for days at a time!!! ;) I know it is an extra step to set the Cream Liner, but for the natural ingredients and how long the product will last me, I think it is a great trade off.

Thanks for the tips, Jen!
I had to order another of the double ended eye brushes when I ordered the liner as it is perfect for me to apply the cream liner with. I need direction as I am cosmetic application challenged and it is easier for me to hold it straight than to draw a fine line. I've had a lot of fun playing with it with some of my dark greens and enjoy being able to create my own liner color. The Mahogany is AWESOME!! as well.I can't imagine being able to use it up by the end of the suggested shelf life, but I must NOT run out! In a rush and in the interest of carrying fewer products, Date Bait has worked well for me as a sealer. I mix my clear liner and the eye shadow in a lid from a small jar, wipe it out with a tissue when I'm done and spritz with brush cleaner and put the jar back together. Takes up almost no room and ready for the next color adventure!

With the angled brush you might try just 'pouncing' or 'dabbing' the color on (gently of course!) rather than drawing a line. Another thing you could easily do woould be to put the Cream Liner on first and then top with your color of choice. Experimentation and practice will go a long way!!!

I am going to try this!!! I have typically been a dry liner in the past (just using mineral eyeshadows for liners with no sealant). While I love the effect of the Morphing shadows, I am not sure they are 'everyday' for me. However, I am going to try sealing with my traditional dry liner colors in place of Perfecting Powder over the Cream Liner (like Bewitched or Emerald over Tarnish or anything over Clear). I guess I want to see if I can eliminate premixing with Clear and sealing. I bet the results will be great, as well as the color possibilities being endless! I think it will also stay in place better than my dry lining alone. I will report back on my findings!

Ok. I LOVE the cream liners. I just recieved the clear one and i have to say it is great.

I put a layer on as an eyeliner then dabbed basalt over the top, and it was so good. it looks exactly like liquid liner, with a very neat precise line, but only took about 30 seconds. This is the neatest eyeliner i've ever had, and i wasn't even trying, just testing it out. Very impressed.

Also i drew a line on my arm to test it out and i can't get it off, so staying power is good.

I must say I am shocked at how well these work. So easy to use and with a little powder or foundation they stay put. No moving around, I hate runaway eyeliner. I have been looking for liners like this for the past year. Thank you Karen!
