Purr or Nekkid or Cashmere or Sandy or...

Post by egerandi » Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:40 pm

I'm getting to the point where I think I have all bases covered and then some, but I've been eying Purr for a while, so here goes:

I have Sandy, Nekkid and Cashmere, and I'm wondering if I needed Purr on top of all that. Nekkid tends to be a bit on the peachy shimmer side on my lids, and Sandy and Cashmere are almost interchangeable when it comes to color (if I remember correctly... seriously, I have to reorganize my shadows).

I was looking to find something like Boom but with a bit more oomph and considering the ones I have above: should I go with Purr or Bare?

I bought Purr and ended up giving it to Kitten (no pun intended). It has as bright a sparkle as Whisper. I can't put my finger on what the tone is that doesn't work for me - it's not quite that mustard-tan (as in Aztec, Boom, Lynx, Harvest, etc) that Karen puts in a *lot* of her gold colours. It's not quite a salmon-coral, it's just something a bit too warm for my skin tone. Maybe it's a bit too honey-amber? Can't quite name it. It'd probably be amazing on you, Egerandi, but it's just a bit strong for very pale skins. Fair to medium, it'd be great. This pic is colour-true: great on a skintone with a bit of colour to it, but on a whiter paler skintone, it's such a bright colour that it jarrs and stands out awkwardly.

I can wear Nekkid easily without it being too peachy; Purr is definitely a stronger colour. Nekkid looks like Creamsicle on this pic, below. I'm scratching my head, though, because one time I got a freebie sample baggie of Cashmere and it looked so much darker than I expected - it looked like *exactly* like Fawn on this pic rather than Cashmere:

I think it's pretty close to Sandy...it's pretty, but I actually resisted cloning Kitten for a while because they were pretty close, but Purr has chunkier sparkle. I do think it will look great on you. Purr is exactly Stila Kitten...so you may actually be able to give it a try pretty easily- I got mine at Sephora.

I'm tempted, very tempted! But for now, I think I'm going with Bare and will try Kitten next time I visit Sephora :)

Thanks for the input, Ladies!

Do give Purr a try if you're at all dithering, Egerandi. I've got to grow up and learn that not every colour looks good on me, just like this one, but it's so darned pretty that I wore a swatch of it on the back of my hand for a week before I could bear to part with it. :D

Hahaha, totally. Like I love all those GWPs I'm getting in Gold/Olive, but they all just end up looking sickly on my eyes :( I love gold, but it appears I can only wear the brighter, cooler toned ones. I'm sure they get a good use somehow, just not on my eyes!
