Reddt vs Crimson

Post by pinkfox » Mon Oct 26, 2009 7:52 pm

I keep hearing all the raves for Russian Red and am intrigued. This may have already been asked before and I'll admit that I'm being lazy and not searching.... But if I have Reddy (oh and Hot Blooded... and Celebration... and Cherry Crush, LOL!) do I need Crimson? Can someone describe the differences/similarities? Does anyone have both that can maybe swatch them side by side?

reddy is deeper and cooler than crimson. Crimson is a "statement color" IMO. The kind that you single out in a black and white photo.

Like Sam said: Crimson is a statement :) For example, I can wear Reddy for work, as it's more muted, but even I wouldn't go as far as putting Crimson on for daytime :) I dressed up as 50's girls for Halloween (one of the parties), and I wore Crimson with a Vanilla shadow and black liner.

hmmm, I wear crimson during the day...and I don't think it looks overboard at all. I dont slap it on though. I first put some gloss on then pat the crimson on and blend well, it gives my lip an almost natural pinky red colour. I wear this one everyday now...but I am not super pale, so maybe that's why I can get away with it? hmmm, anyhow, I am loving this colour.
I agree it is a statement colour, especially when put on properly, but even then, I've worn it for evening times and it looks fantastic. !

Oh yeah, I'm not afraid of red red either, and I love Crimson, but it would be screaming out of my face - I can barely pull off Reddy during the day (wearing it today, btw). I alternate Reddy and Bitten depending on the hue of the red I'm wearing, and I keep Platinum Red and Crimson for the night time. One day, maybe I'll try Crimson properly blotted for the day, we'll see :)

Oh you definitely should! I think it is easy to wear if you are careful. I love the look of red lips on super pale girls. Reminds me of Rose McGowen when she was in Charmed, she always had red red lips, and it looked so nice, sort of the old hollywood look.
I was watching reruns of that show lately (it is always on here, everyday, in Ireland) and I just loved how she looked, so I decided I’d try, which is why i got the crimson!.egerandi I think you could also pull it off with your dark hair! ;)

Well then, I think I shall! I've been alternating Reddy and Bitten this week, it was my red week - to match my red handbag :)
Next week is grey/pink, so I'll be messing with my pink lippies , then back to red!

Yeah, I'm too lazy to change bags ever day, so I just do weekly runs, hehe.

Skipping the gray/pink bag week because I wanted wear Crimson again so badly :D It works! I layered a bit of Eternal underneath, and then Crimson, blotting, off I go. Thanks for the encouragement, I knew I should have never said no to a red lipstick for daytime.

Oh yeay!! SO excited that you tried it and it worked!!! :D I know it takes some getting used to (I have NEVER in my life worn red lips before) but I love how glamorous and ‘put together’ it looks 8-) . Today I did like a 60’s eye, with my eye base just a sheeny skin tone colour, and black eyeliner with the winged tip, some forbidden on my cheeks, just enough to brighten my face, and the crimson lips! And I love it! I am currently addicted to Mad Men, and loving the makeup the girls wore…. So I am trying it out lately ;)

I love red lips :) And I just recently realized I didn't have a red red blush, so grabbed samples of Forbidden (sounds like it works for you) and Apple. May have to lighten them, but I figure if I can wear Carnal lightly dusted, those other two should work too.
