Cupcake wrote:I just watched Twilight on DVD for the first time two nights ago and I really need some pointers here as I didn't get it. It seems like a teenage angst love story but with a twist that they're vampires and going in for a french kiss will always make the girl a bit more nervous than normal ;) Then again, I didn't get the whole LOTR thing either as I didn't read the books and work up anticipation at seeing the characters come to life. Does it make much difference having read the books and lived with the characters in your head for a while? It seems so with LOTR. If you guys think it's worth it, I'll try and get copies of the Twilight book series to get more into it. I know for sure that I didn't enjoy the Harry Potter films nearly as much as I loved and lived through the books - is this the same kind of thing? Glad you guys love it so much, all the same. It's fun to have that to eagerly look forward to. 8-)

(an excuse for a new SN collection of colours, perhaps? All with a mean, moody, romantic and moonlit kind of hue? *engages humorous sarcasm* possibly a colour corrector or complexion enhancer range?? :p )
I hadn't read the books before I saw the movie, and I liked the movie, but I will say that having read the books, the movie seems more layered than it did initially. I recommend reading the books only if you like them. Don't slog through them just because everybody else is doing it :)

Laurie: good point!

[quote="Ghost"] Hey Kitten have you read midnight sun on SM website. Its edwards version of twilight - soooooooooooooo good, a must read for any twilight fan. You see it was meant to be a book, but she sent the pilot version to a few people and it go leaked :( Well as a result SM doesn't know when or 'if' it will get published, so she has put an Edward twilight version on her site (pdf format). It’s a nice 264 pages and I think it ends just up to or after the meadow scene. I got more excited reading that version then I did when I read twilight for the 1st time!!!!! so much more happens. [quote]

Ooooh thanks for the tip re Midnight Sun!!!! I have downloaded it onto my pocket PC so that I can read it in bed.......it's great to 'hear' the story from Edward's perspective & to have some new material rather than just rereading the original series :D .

******minor spoilers ahead******

Okay I've been told from my ever obsessing younger sister (I got her onto Twilight and we're still arguing over Edward since Dec last year - die hard fans till the end :D ) there are 1 - 2 mins clips from the up coming movie on you tube .

They have been on there for a while and I resisted until today because I didn't want to spoil it. Well today I thought what the hell so I watched 30 sec into the first clip, then I stopped (don't know where I got the will power). This clip was of when Bella first rides the motorcycle and she hears Edwards voice, well the way it was done was fantastic, I got a chill down my spine and that's why I stopped. I really didn't want to ruining the experience of seeing it in the cinemas for the first time. Put a HUGE smile on my face though :D :D :D

But for those of you who want to see it have fun

15 weeks and two days to go - not that I'm counting
Foundation: 1: baggie 6: ebony: 7 glow
Fav blush: Steller
Fav Lippie: Symphony
Fav combo: cream 1st half of lid, 09:59 2nd half, chocolate twinkle in the crease with Blackheart over it blended out and vanillia on brow bone.

Ghost, I have a super cool t shirt that says "I run with vampires" on the front and on the back it says "Team Edward" ;) !
I read the books with my daughter. She's 12 and I'm 42. I think their timeless. Like others said not great literature, but super fun. There is something about them that transports you back in time. I really loved them and read them too quickly. I went through Edward withdrawl for a long time afterwards! :D We are excited about the movie too!

sorry trainer I can't believe I've just read your post - sorry :(

Yeah I am really excited. I know the books are nothing like the movies, but there's just something satifiying and pleasing at watching your fav book on the big screen, especially when Robert Pattinson it playing Edward (oh and he's british :D).

Funnily enough I am buying my younger sister the exact same t-shirt for her birthday in sept LOL

Yes we're still arguing over Edward since last Dec. I'm 26, she's 17 - she says I'm too old for him and I say she's too young :D

Ah....never too old for ....well you know! ;) That is really funny about the t-shirt!!
Have you read the "Vampire Diaries"? Here in the U.S. they are making a show about it. The story line seemed so similar to Twilight I had to google the books, because it seemed like the author totally ripped Stephanie Meyers off. However, I read that those books came first. So it made me curious. I think I'm going to try them...although I'll still be missing Edward! :D
Also, have you read "The Time Travelers Wife" ? I just finished it. If you haven't ,you should! It was really good and I'm guessing, although I haven't seen it, MUCH better then the movie.

Just over 1 weeks to go ladies :D :D :D

I should tonight finish reading new moon for the 2nd time, glad I did as I forgot a few things. I've seen one of the trailers last week at the cinemas while going to watch the vampire assistant - well seeing a new moon trailer on the big screen is a whole different experience then seeing on your computer screen :D BTW - watching that trailer on the big screen with Robert pattenson playing Edward Cullens topless - Priceless :o

I am wondering how many times I will have to go to the movie. You know, the torture. ;)
