On the description for super serum, it says that the niacinamide in the product is incompatible with all acids. Is it completely incompatible with salicylic acid as well? I have a drugstore scrub that I like that has 1% salicylic acid, and was wondering if it would be worth it to try a sample of the super serum. I also found some info on another forum saying that renovage like in awesome sauce, couldn't be used with niacinamide - I know Karen thinks they're overkill to combine, but I also know that a lot of people like to rotate serums. Is either combo safe?

I do know of some that can use Super Serum with low percentage salicylic acid products and others that can't. If you want to try it, please proceed with caution as it is not recommended. I think if you use the niacinimide and Renovage in separate applications, it will be all right. I have done that before without issue. Still, test, test, test. These are some hefty actives, and some can't use them even alone due to sensitivity. I do suggest sampling these types of products first, too.

That was fast! I mainly REALLY LOVE awesome sauce and like my scrub (the one with the salicylic acid) a lot, too, and wanted to be sure that I could still use them both if I started with some niacinamide products. Since the scrub doesn't remain on the skin, I'm hoping it will be fine. Of course, I'll test, though.

Thanks!

Do you always use your scrub to wash your face am and pm? If it turns out the Super Serum and your scrub 'don't play all that nicely together', maybe use a different cleanser in the am or pm and use the Super Serum along with the alternate cleanser.

Actually, I only use the scrub about twice a week. More than that is overkill. I could definitely use it at a different time. I also have some stuff with other acids that I'm going to use up first before I even try new things, but I wanted to plan ahead. :)

Great thread! I sometimes use a Salicylic Acid Cleanser in the AM before my CeraVe AM (has niacinimide), I mix in a drop of either Super Serum or Vit C serum. I've never had any issues, but if I do I'll know why! Learn something new everyday!
