SN newbie--help with my shopping list?

Hello all,
New year's goal: Get better at doing my eye makeup. To that end, I've been hemming and hawing over my shopping cart for my first SN eyeshadow order. Can you experts help me narrow down what would be best for a makeup and SN newbie?

As you can see in the photo, I'm fairly pale and blonde with blue-green-grey eyes and would like to play up the green (for example, UD's Half Baked makes the green in my eyes really pop). In the photo I'm only wearing mascara--my lips are naturally fairly pigmented and I look better in pinks/blues than yellows/olives.

In my cart right now: Brown Sugar, Trouble, Loaded, Caliber, History, Luxe, and the green eyes shadow kit (Prowl and Model). I'm also looking for a pinky-peach lip color so I've added Mirabelle (?), and I'd like to find a good nude lip color as well but have trouble finding one that doesn't wash me out.

What do you think of my list? Anything I should remove or add? Any redundant colors in my list?

Thanks! Happy new year!
Meghan

You're so pretty! I'm so jealous that you look that good with just mascara! Congratulations on your graduation, btw!

If UD Half-Baked works for you, then it sounds like you've picked out some good choices. However, if you already have the UD Naked palette (the original), a couple of the colors you've picked are clones from the palette. Trouble, Loaded, and Caliber are clones, corresponding to Virgin, Toasted, and Half-Baked itself. If you want to replace your "mainstream" colors (many do!), then the Naked clones or the set is a great choice. Naked 3 also seems to be good for green-eyed girls - here's a link to Phyrra's comparison of the UD palette and the Silk Naturals clone. Phyrra mentioned on here that she really likes this palette for your type of eye color! http://www.phyrra.net/2013/12/silk-natu ... dupes.html This is the thread about it: http://host.silknaturals.com/forum/view ... 1&start=10

I've also heard purple works really well (on most eyes, really) - there's a wide variety to choose from. Something like Sari or Jump if you want a more muted color, or something like Siobhan, Vivid, or Howl if you want something brighter!

For lips, Mirabelle is a bit bright (on me, anyway, but I'm pretty pale - I wear the #1 concealer and the N10 foundation from here) but does fit pinky-peach. I love that color as well, so I can suggest Clandestine, Foreplay, Frenzy, Pretty Please, and Ginny. The only one of these I don't own is Clandestine. (At least I think I don't...I have a lot of SN lippies!) Foreplay and Frenzy are rather sheerer and not as brightly pigmented, so if you want something more subtle, those are good. Both shimmery. Pretty Please is the minty, plumping ALG formula. Also sheerish, but still pigmented. It's not too minty - not like Buxom glosses, which can downright hurt.

For a nude lip, many people like the cool, plummy nudes like All In, Five Star, or Strut. XXX is an opaque lipstick that's pretty much concealer for the lips, depending on your skin tone. I'm pretty sure it would be brown on me. Modern Poet is my perfect nude, since I like a very pale nude lip with a bit of pink and no overly brown tones. Birthday Suit looks like a reddish brown on me. Nice Tan is probably a good one to start with, or Maiden, Cultured, or Negligee if you like them pinker. (Maiden and Negligee are clones of MAC Slimshine Bare and Velvet Teddy, respectively).

I'm sorry for the extremely long answer (I always say this!) but I hope something helps! Welcome to SN!

Thanks for the advice and compliments, Caroline! I don't actually own the UD shadow--a friend was giving me makeup lessons (all part of that NY resolution ;) and she owns it. So I'm excited to get the natural version!

Clandestine and Cultured look right up my alley! Sari and Jump are also gorgeous. Being an eyeshadow amateur I'm a bit scared of Siobhan and Vivid...maybe with more practice I'll get there ;)

Anyone have suggestions on the best eye makeup brushes to get (SN or otherwise)? I literally only own the cheap foam ones that come with drugstore eyeshadows, haha. All advice is appreciated!

Thanks again Caroline!

My eyes seem to be the same color as yours and the Naked 3 clones have been really good for bringing out the green. I like cache for the inner corner, drive for crease with link to deepen it up and tweak for lid. Also Iconic lip color that comes with it is a great nude.
I am wearing it this way in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hqtun9fvuQ
if you want to see what it looks like.
I also really like Impact in the crease, this video is random because it is just about tweezers, but I did a similar look there but with Impact in crease and Link in outer v, and Cache mixed with tweak for a lighter lid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw8Ykr5Da_g
Just so you can see what my recommendations actually look like on the eyes, in case that helps.

P.S. I just recently bought the Elite Brush Set from Coastal Scents and if you are looking for a large set to have all the brushes you'll ever need, I highly recommend it, they are amazingly soft.

I have not tried the SN brushes myself but I hear they are very soft and good quality, I'd probably get the Flat Concealer/Eye Brush for all over color and the ultimate wet/dry one for more precision like for the outer v/crease.

Thanks Oxana! I've actually been pouring over your blog the last couple days--it's great! I'm pretty sure you can wear every color SN makes, which is just not fair ;) Thanks for linking to the videos too--I'm definitely a visual learner.

Can't wait to place my SN order tomorrow and most likely a Coastal Scents order as well! Thanks everyone!
