Swirly Bowl Ideas.......

Post by JenW » Wed Apr 28, 2010 9:08 pm

The benefits of using a swirly bowl is that it keeps your minerals free from the bacteria and oils that can build on your brushes. If the brushes never touch the packaging, there is not an issue of exposure. Also, there are days when I put my finisher on right along with my foundation. I don't have to premix it, I just put a few shakes of each into my swirly bowl and blend as I load my brush. And the swirly bowl helps you load the brush better for more even application.

I was thinking it might be good to show your swirly bowls...... I really should take a picture of all the ones I have used in the past. I have lately settled on a set of 4 that are stainless steel from Ikea.....

I have also used small Asian sauce bowls from World Market in the US.

Those look neat. Thanks Jen!

I have an empty foundation compact (with a metal tin) that I spray down before and after.

I have used "Replacement Parts for Aroma Burner" from MUJI for several yeas. It's nice size for swirly bowl and stackable...so not bulky to store. I always use two, one for base items, one for colors. And It's very useful for foiling or making eye liner with clear cream eye liner.
It's not high price and I can get it easily. Especially as I live in Japan, there are many MUJI shops ;)
Girls live in USA and CANADA can get this at MUJI online shop. Here is the link.

I use a lid from an empty jar of my favorite face powder (NYC loose powder), it's nice and big so I have alot of room to move my brush around but the sides are high enough that I don't have any issues with powder flying around. I use the bottom part too (turned upside down) as a sort of palette for cream products. I also like the flat bottom since I use a flat bottom brush, I can load up my brush more evenly than with an actual bowl.

Daiso has some really cute sauce plates and bowls for $1-2 too!

I think they're only on the west coast but you can order online:

A restaurant accidentally sent me home with a real ceramic saucer for the sauce in my doggy bag, so I've been using that ever since :D

When I travel, I just take the lid from a large powder container, as it fits better. I also travel with my blushes in sample baggies, and I use a palette tin to swirl those pigments in: perfect size for the FO brush.
